I can’t believe it’s been a month and a half since camp has been over!! By now everyone is back in to the routine of school and all that goes along with it. The busy season has started all over again. For my family the word busy has a whole new meaning since our son, Hayes, was born two months ago. It seems like we go nonstop day in and day out . . . making lunches, working, feeding baby, taking our oldest to soccer practice, rushing to make dinner, homework, did I mention feeding baby? There are days where I feel like I’m on my very own hamster wheel, a hamster wheel that I myself have created, mind you. In the midst of it all, my husband asks me on a regular basis, “Is there anything I can do for you? Do you need anything?” My answer has been a consistent, “I just need a few more hours in the day!!!!” All the while knowing this isn’t possible and for good reason. We think if we had a few more hours in the day it would make everything better, but it wouldn’t. We wouldn’t put that time to good use, we would most likely fill it up with more loads of laundry or running someone to another practice or going to another meeting. When in reality what we really need is to SLOW DOWN. We need to take a moment to enjoy the life that is going on around us. Not rush to try and get the dishes done and a load of laundry started before we hurry our little ones off to bed (I’m completely guilty here.) We need to take a deep breath, leave the dishes and go curl up in our kiddos beds and read a story, let them just talk and talk while you listen, or my daughters favorite these days . . .tell a story about when they were little. All these things make them feel important and loved. So go home and ask your kids what makes them feel better, a clean kitchen or just getting to hanging out with you. Enjoy every moment!
With much Vista Love, Diane
