If you were here in the early years of Sierra Vista, or you have been on Facebook lately, you’ll know that we have a special Reunion coming up for our Sierra Vista Founders and early-year campers! We are going to dig up the Time Capsule buried back in 1982 and finally see what the first SV campers thought was time-capsule worthy! I’ve been curious as to what was in there since I was a camper in the ’90s.
What would they have added to the collection of trinkets? Maybe a favorite cd (um… cassette tape for the founders, I guess) or maybe a Chapel or Vespers program that was special to them. What would YOU have added? Seriously, what would you put into a time capsule today that you wouldn’t be able to open until 30 years from now? I think I would write a letter to myself or write down goals and prayers that I have for my life. It would be so cool to see where I am in 30 years and to see the prayers that have been answered and even how my prayers might have changed.
::: Fun weekend activity :::
Create your own family Time Capsule! Get your kids involved and talk about preserving history for future generations (and our future selves)! You don’t have to leave it buried for 30 years, though. You could do a list of favorites. Everyone’s favorite candy bar, drink, board game….
And if you were a Sierra Vista camper in the 80’s or 90’s… Are you coming to the Reunion on October 19th? Check out the Facebook Event Page and let us know if you can make it! We can’t wait to see what was buried all those years ago and also to reconnect with you ladies. And meet your families, of course!! Hope you all have a wonderful weekend and enjoy every moment of it!
