Justin, Owner/Business Manger
Diane, Vista Camps Registrar/Store Manager
Another summer at Vista . . . Justin has spent every summer of his life here at Vista Camps, and he wouldn’t have it any other way. He has grown up here and loves watching what spending a summer at camp can do in the lives of children. Justin received his degree in Business Management from Texas Tech, (Wreck’Em Tech) so it seems fitting that he serves as our Business Manager, which means he’s involved in every aspect of camp. Whenever anyone at camp needs help with anything, Justin is who they ask. His response to each request, “It’s my pleasure!”
Diane is an a natural born encourager and has the sweetest heart of anyone you’ll ever meet! She went to school for Interior Design, loves artsy things and loves to be creative, and uses her amazing decorating talent and great taste around the office, the camp store, and helping to coordinate weddings and parties we have here at camp. Diane is a go-getter with a hilarious personality and a we are blessed by her daily. She is helpful, sweet, selfless, thoughtful…and gives the BEST hugs EVER! Justin and Diane’s sweet and spunky daughter, Taylor, is just like her momma and will have you rolling on the floor laughing with her antics! They have recently added TWO babies to the mix; Hayes- the adorable two year old mini-Justin, and Ruth- the loved more than cake sweet baby girl who just turned 1 this Fall. Justin and Diane make a great team running the Vista Camps office and taking care of everything from planning the summer meal schedule to stocking up the camp store with goodies.
Camp Sierra Vista Program Director
Beth was adopted into the Vista Family in the Spring of 2012. Originally from Michigan, the only girl of 6 siblings, and a stellar athlete (how could you not be a stellar athlete with 5 brothers?), Beth has a passion for people and a Heart as big as Texas. She attended Central Michigan University and has a degree in Therapeutic Recreation and Psychology, which she uses quite often here at the office. Ha!
Beth and her husband Justin (yes – another Justin) met at a children’s camp down the road and they have two amazing daughters, Makenna (12) and Lily (10), who keep them and the whole Vista office in tears of laughter. Some of her favorite things include reading, sports, hiking, family time and the outdoors. These are just a FEW things about our energetic, creative, hilarious and humble girls’ camp director.
Camp Rio Vista Program Director
Hello! I’m Nathan Henry and I have been the Program Director at Camp Rio Vista since 2014. My wife Ashley grew up at Vista Camps and I grew up just a few miles down the road. After living in Tucson, Houston and Austin, we moved back home to raise our family in January 2014. We are blessed with two incredible children, Blake and Caroline, our dog Ollie and Charlie the cat. Blake spends most of his time at camp helping Johnnie “Pops” Hawkins working around camp, while Caroline can be found encouraging others and seeing to it that people are where they need to be.
Ashley and I are both graduates of Texas Tech University and I attended graduate school at The University of Arizona in Tucson receiving a Master of Science in Soil and Water Science. Prior to joining camp, I spent almost seven years working in the environmental consulting field in Houston and Austin.
Camp has been a tremendous blessing to our family. I really love seeing campers return year after year and the bonds formed here at camp. I am also extremely passionate about working with the young men that make camp run every summer. I strive my hardest to put the absolute best staff together every year. A group of passionate, high energy, positive role models so that every camper has the best experience possible. My other passions include: golf, hunting, fishing, occasionally painting or drawing, and anything else in the great outdoors. I hope to see you this summer!
Sara Kendrick is a 2nd generation camper here at Vista Camps. She’s been dreaming of working at camp since she was 8 years old in Hawks Hilton, sharing the dream of everyone else who ever crossed over the LWC. After making her way from Hawks to Mountain View, Sara taught horseback and JFF for 3 summers and loved every minute of it. It might have helped that her co-counselor and the love of her life was waiting for her at the Vista Stables. Who ever said summer romances don’t last? Sara and Sean have been blissfully married for 18 years and have three spunky and adorable kids to show for it. She is currently the Social Media Guru and heads up the Alumni department. It’s hard to call it work when you’re pinning on Pinterest and planning get-togethers with your old camp friends, but somebody has to do it. Her favorite thing about camp is watching the younger generations grow up with the same traditions, the same magical memories, and the same life-long friendship making. It’s pure bliss, really.
If you’d like to set up a coffee-date with friends to share your love of Vista with, get together with camp alum, or any other reason for a social event, let Sara know. She’s always up for travel and can talk “camp” with the best of them. She’s loved Vista Camps from every angle you can think of – camper, counselor, camp parent and full-time employee.
Chaille’s camping experience began as a camper in the Texas Hill Country, where she spent 9 summers on the Guadalupe River at a girl’s camp down the road. Never did she dream that a summer romance as a teen would evolve into a partnership and profession in camping, but it did when she married the love of her life, Freddie Hawkins, son to Carl and Diane, who passed away in 2012. Their three children have all attended and worked at camp. She holds a degree in economics from The University of Texas at Austin.
She currently serves on the boards of the Community Foundation of the Texas Hill Country and the Sterling-Turner Foundation in Houston as well as is active with various community and volunteer groups. Life keeps her busy with six grandchildren under the age of 7. She has a HUGE heart and is a blessing to all who know her.
